Day 11: A Problem Solved

If you have an open back shelf, like we do, take a look at my crafty approach on how to solve the problem with seeing cords in the background! I went and bought a clearance piece of fabric for $4 and some home decor Velcro (we won't talk about how much that was, but it's basically one half sticky, other half sew on). I used stitch witchery on the sew on side, stuck the other side on the back of the shelf. Voila!! Now the back of my shelf has a pretty pattern and my dangling cords are perfectly hidden!

Day 10: I Heart Coupons!

If you've known me at all the last year, you know I love coupons. A lot. I have quite a stockpile accumulated (I'm sure that picture is to come!) and everything is such a rush, from making my lists to clipping my coupons and getting more things than I can count for free! This particular trip, after using Internet coupons and in-ad coupons, I spent $17 and change (including tax BUT I also earned $16 in UP Rewards (coupons that can be used on anything at Rite Aid!), which makes all these items just over $1!

My husband has quite the scratcher "addiction". But lately he's been winning more than losing, so I guess I can't complain. And yes, you counted correctly...it's $100.

Day 7: Dinner

As I was sitting eating dinner, I was thinking about what picture I should post for today. I've been backed up a day for the last couple and I wanted to make sure this one showed up tonight. But then I realized that my dining room table was speaking to me at that moment. This year, we are "resolving" to only eat out once a week at a restaurant and three times a week at first. First week has been a success! Tonight I decided on an old stand by: the always wonderful for my blood pressure ramen soup! As I'm eating it and checking my different deal blogs, it made me chuckle. Ramen and an iPad while hunting for a bargain. There's some irony in there somewhere, I think! It also reminds me that I don't need to go out to a fancy restaurant to have a meal I enjoy. My $.25 bowl of noodles is just fine by me!

Day 6: Goal!

Erik and I enjoyed an evening out at the Sabres (er, Sharks) game in San Jose! This is the third time we have seen the Sabres play in San Jose. In 2003, we drove from Fresno and the game ended in a tie (hate that!). Last year, when they finally came back, they ended up losing (Boo!). But this year, seated next to some pretty pissed off Sharks' fans, we shut them out 3-0! We were sitting in the upper section this time but it gave us a great overview of the ice!

Day 4: A Surprise for Daddy

For Christmas, Sammie got a card with $1 inside from Great Grandma and Grandpa Hahn. After Christmas, we went to Target and found a bunch of Dollar Spot toys for 50% off (of course!), and Sammie picked out a Paint by Numbers picture featuring a skating bear, and today, she painted it for daddy! He was very proud of the work she did!

Day 1: Hugs

Today didn't feel like anything "new", despite it being a new year and all. I continued to have a bad attitude (for some reason people have been annoying me lately!!), felt un-pretty when I looked in the mirror, and ruined something in the kitchen for the umpteenth time. Even through all the negativity I'm feeling for some unknown reason, my day is made a million times better with a hug from my Sammie -- even if she's still trying to look at the tv when she's giving me one!
